A History Of...// Booklet Ideas// Front Cover

In Total my booklet will have 24 pages and that is including the front and back cover. I have decided to have an introduction explaining what the book is about and also a contents page (no idea why I called it a 'chapters page' on the design sheet) as I feel that once people have looked it it once and want to view certain pages they enjoyed that can turn back to the contents page and find it straight away with out guessing what pages it was on. No I have done this I have a good idea of what need to be done next. I think the next thing to do is go on to InDesign and get that sorted out. Unfortunately my survey is doing VERY badly and i don't blame it. Considering its the summer holidays none of the students are looking at their student mail. I have uploaded it to facebook but it's a similar story. No one is interested really! I've asked my parents to send it to all their contacts on their email but they seem to be taking their time with that. So I guess I am going to start designing the pictograms of the countries as that is something I can start doing.

On the left hand page I am going to have the pictogram with all the things that represent the country STEREOTYPICALLY!. Then on the right hand page I am going to have the results of my survey including a little extra interesting stuff I found on the internet about  each country. I also need to start thinking about a COLOUR SCHEME as I don't want the book to be full of different colours as that will mean it won't make much sense. ALSO- Need to start thinking about front cover ideas. I have thought of a couple of things in my head but need to get it on to paper.

I think I am going to go with this idea for the front cover. The map of england with the title inside. I feel that this will be the most suitable and at the end of the day the most conventional idea to run with. Like I have said on my design sheet this is the best idea as the 'we' is easily identified as British. Because its inside a map of the UK.... Could have worded that better but I hope you understand what I mean. I now need to trace the whole of the UK. Which could be quite a long job.

First Ideas (Front Cover)

In this last one you can see I have taken my secondary research into play. i wanted to make it look like it had been illustrated. I want to lose that black line though.

Still a bit too wonky

As a first idea I think that this is quite good. I am going to play around with it more and see if I can get anything else out of it. I need to re-do the banner as it wasn't done properly and the outline on the darker bits make it look wrong so thats something I have to come back to later on. In terms of type and colour I am really happy but I am not too sure weather or not i need to have a good REASON for my chosen colour. You could say the flag is symbolic of each countries flag and the bold font used for europe makes it seem strong. But will I need more than that?
